Luckenbooth Brooch

The name Luckenbooth comes from the "locked booths" where the brooches were sold in the Royal Mile in Edinburgh. They are traditionally exchanged between lovers on betrothal and subsequently pinned to the baby's shawl to protect it from evil spirits, then passed down through the generations.
